“I can't say.”字面上是“我不能说”的意思，但老外常用的意思是“我不知道”或“我不确定”。

当我们无法提供确定的答案时，就可以使用这句话，类似于中文的“我也说不准”。

A: Do you know what time the meeting starts?
（你知道会议几点开始吗？）
B: I can't say, I haven’t received the schedule yet.
（我不确定，我还没收到时间表呢。）

A: Are you going to the party tonight?
（你今晚会去派对吗？）
B: I can't say, I'm still deciding.
（我不确定，我还在考虑。）

A: Do you think he’ll like the gift?
（你觉得他会喜欢这份礼物吗？）
B: I can’t say, I haven’t seen his reactions yet.
（我不确定，我还没看到他的反应呢。）

而can这个字的用法也需要特别注意，如果人在国外有求于人，英语又不好时，别对的别人说：“Can you speak Mandarin？（你能说中文吗？）”这样很像在考验别人的中文能力，而是要说：“Do you speak Mandarin？（你说中文吗？）”才是有礼貌的说法。
